Jack Florey Fund FAQ:
Who is Jack Florey?
Jack Florey is a mysterious individual who has been known to wander
around the 5th Floor of East Campus at MIT as well as other obscure
parts of MIT. He was last seen heading for Baker House, although
there is no proof that he ever actually arrived. If you rush, you
might catch him.
Who manages the fund?
The Fund is managed by The Boston Foundation (www.tbf.org), a large
community foundation created in 1915. It is a charitable
organization, and any gifts to it can only be redirected to other
public charities. Some of the funds will be used for an
administrative fee that goes to the Boston Foundation, but this counts
as a charitable contribution.
Who advises the fund?
The fund is advised by a group of three advisors, where 2 out of the 3
advisors are needed to make a grant. To maintain the relationship
with 5th East, the goal will be that at least one of the advisors is a
alum of 5th East.
Who are the current
advisors for the fund?
The current advisors for the fund are Gisele Ellis, James Kretchmar,
and Stan Zanarotti.
How do I get in
contact with the fund?
To contact the Jack Florey advisors, please email
jack@jackfloreyfund.org.
Does Jack
Florey handle the money?
Given Jack Florey's credit rating, he decided it would be best to
let
a recognized 90-year old charitable foundation, The Boston Foundation
actually handle
the money. Donations are sent directly to them, so that
none of
Jack's creditors would have access to the funds.
